"Despite all the utter garbage written against you on the Australian Idol forums by the self appointed music 'experts', my Australian Idol experience this season has been far richer for admiring the unique singer/songwriting styles of a 16 year old girl from Albury, *Lisa Mitchell*.
From the first time the camera laid its gaze upon her in the Albury auditions, Lisa captivated many fans with her unique brand of understated, soft sweet inflections with all the beauty and vulnerability. Many thought she could win Idol with a voice that undeniably stood out.
After the Semi Final performance when she sang 'Diamonds on the Inside' Kyle made the audience stand up and applaud her as he thought she could be 'the best thing to come out of this country musically'.
Australian Idol is a tough gauntlet to run and much of the original hype and expectation mellowed as Lisa struggled with with the likes of disco and rock. Yet she still showed her true talent in performances of 'A Thousand Miles' and when she played with her guitar last week.
Lisa Mitchell has worked hard on her talent to get to where she is. She stole the hearts and minds of many male and female fans alike over the past 2 months.
I'll miss her adorable smile but moreso unique voice. It is good to hear someone is not afraid to sing with the Aussie accent, as we don't have to all turn into Americans when we perform a pop song.
Lisa has the talent and the creative drive to make it as an artist. It may take a little bit of time but she has support in high places, namely Mark Holden, and has impressed the likes of Ronan Keating and Ella Hooper of Killing Heidi with her voice which to me is far more important than any 'opinion' of a knocker.
I gave her as many votes as I could afford to. 27 tonight in fact, which I thought might make the difference because last year that's all that separated Lee from Dan in a famous verdict show.
Alas it was not enough but I think Lisa has made the show really worth the while of so many people this year and I don't think we've seen the last of her. Idol has been a great launching pad but its not the be all - end all.
Keep Living Your Dream, Lisa'
